Not Your Average Keyless Remote question

Hi, 98 Sunfire Convertible. Keyless remote stopped working so I changed battery; no result. Got another keyless remote and did the programming (put jumper wire in programming connector; heard the locks open and close as they were supposed to), but after I push lock/unlock on the new remote to program it, nothing happens (directions say I should hear the locks open and close, but nothing happens after doing this a gazillion times!!!). So, I don't think I have a remote problem, but something else. Any advise would be great. I have no idea where to find the module or how to check it as I do suspect the 'receiver' of the keyless remote is not picking up the signal of the remote. thanks for any advice.

Re: Not Your Average Keyless Remote question

The remote you have may be defective. If your vehicle responds by entering programming mode, but nothing happens when you get to the steps which require the new remote - I would suspect either the wrong remote, or a defective remote. The vehicle seems to be working fine.

The remote should be FCC: ABO1502T
