Re: Rev Limiter

Because they're too ignorant to know why it's there in the first place. People constantly ask how they can raise the rev limiter, but don't understand why it's so pointless. They think that they'll make power by raising it. The reality is that it's there for a reason, and unless you have have modifications done (more than basic bolt-ons or "stage 1" cams); you're not going to make any power beyond the stock rev limiter. Actually, people will lose power by shifting too late after their peak power.

Re: Rev Limiter

That's right, my integra could rev to 9,200 but power wise I was better off shifting in the mid 7000 range.

Re: Rev Limiter

You said that it was only good beyond the bolt on mods. What about increased fuel and air intake (like high flow injectors, high performance fuel pump, and ram air)? I know that it would be advantageous to someone with a turbo but would be good for anything less than Nitrous and forced induction.

Re: Rev Limiter

No. An intake only frees up a few hp, and doesn't alter your power band enough to warrent an increase of revs. And just having an intake and increasing fuel to a stock engine will do nothing for your performance whatsoever, actually the increased gas will probably dog out your engine.

Re: Rev Limiter

So your only going to want to modify the ecu if you have a lot of high perfomance mods.

Re: Rev Limiter

yea no need to raise the rev limit on a stock engine, it can actually hurt it reving to high can ruin your motor your top end is not built to rev that high and ccan break..i took the ecu outta my civic and its chipped out to put it in my girls stock coupe cause it needa a ecu so it was temp while my car was parked for the winter and if u reved past 7500 it jus had no power..{but the v-tec kickin in sooner made it pull felt like someone punched u in the chest}
