Hello all. I am having an issue with the engine in my 97 K2500. It has a 7.4L/454 and everytime i start it up and run it there is a loud clicking coming from the drivers side of the motor. As I drive the noise speeds up and slows down with the RPM's. A friend told me it was a stuck lifter, but I dont know. Just wondering what all it might be and what I have to do to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Please Help!!!!!
Your friend was right. It could just be the oil, try changing it and run a different blend of oil. It's nothing big to worry about it, mine does it once in awhile if I'm driving it real hard because the oil heats up and is thinner.

Re: Please Help!!!!!
Exhaust manifolds and headpipes also can sound like clicking or ticking noises that vary with RPMs. Check all the bolts.

Re: Please Help!!!!!
Good thinkin mailbu, my truck once made that noise after I had just washed it but that's because I washed my engine and one of my old(stock at 137,000) plug wires had come loose and was sparking on a wet surface. That's most likely not your problem though.
