re: HELP!! car amp

alright i checked everything. and still nothing!!! so i hook up a diffrent amp and it works fine! ODD HUH!?! well I took the pheonix gold inside and opened it up, come to find out who ever had it before me, wrote the wrong terminals on the outside for the power, remote, and ground wire. Most amps the power wire is on the left and the remote is in the middle and ground is on the right well when i opened it the remote was on the right the power in the middle and ground on the right, SO, my question is would that kill the amp if u had the power in the remote and the remote in the power???? thanxs alot!!!

Re: HELP!! car amp

By having the power wire hooked to the remote conn. and the remote wire connected to the power conn. then it's very possible that it blew the remote turn-on circuit in the amp which would possibly cause the problem. Try hooking it up correctly and see if the amp turns on. As for the previous thread not sure if anyone answered your question but for the remote wire most people run it either off the power ant. conn. from the head unit, sometimes there's a dedicated remote amp turn-on connection, and still some others like to jump the wire off the fuse box and put it to a little toggle switch to be able to turn the amp on that way. But the best way is if the remote connection is available then use it if not use the power ant. wire. If for some reason your head unit doesn't have either connection then go the old fashioned way and use the toggle switch. But hook the amp back up the right way and see if it will turn on. It probably won't as by having the power wire from the battery connected to the remote term. probably blew the circuit out.

Re: HELP!! car amp

You should be fine they are both 12V signals. Wire it correctly and try again if not come back...... Nothing would have blown up like cherokee said..... once again they're both 12V.

Re: HELP!! car amp

it wouldn't hurt anything, but how did you stuff the power wire into the much smaller turn-on connector ?

thats what i was thinkin, most amps have much smaller terminals for the remote wire. unless its 8 awg power and ground, then the rem terminal might be the same size

Re: HELP!! car amp

must not be a very powerful amp ....... PG is nuts about oversizing the power wire. They pretty much commanded me to use 4 Ga wires on a 75X4 watt amp.
