98 Accord V6 smog problem
Every time I take my 98 Accord V6 for CA Smog Check, it barely passes the HC portion of the test. Honda cars traditionally pass smog checks with flying colors.
My dealer suggests changing the oil immediately prior to a smog check and that I need a fuel injector cleaning. I'm skeptical of both. Any suggestions of what could be wrong? |

Re: 98 Accord V6 smog problem
It could be quite a few things. Do you have any check engine lights? How many miles on the car? Are you getting a foul smell from under the car? Black smoke or soot out of the exhaust? Decrease in gas mileage?
We need more info to help diagnose the problem. Lastly, a suggestion, at any autozone or pepboys they have a can of stuff you can run through your system that is 'gaurenteed' to help pass emissions. It has a red mitsu 3000gt on teh bottle. Ask and they will know what you are talking about. It wont solve the root problem, but it will help you pass if you are in a jam.
