TB question

Ok i bought a Mac 70mm TB on ebay to upgrade mine. Well, after i bought it the guy said it was a stock 70mm TB with a Mac sensor. It was off an 03 Gt and i was certain that 99-04 gt's had 65mms. I told him he misprinted it and i needed my money back, but i went out and measured mine it was a 70mm or like 69 (stock). So, what the crap. What is the advantage of an aftermarket piece of the same size? Is the stock one actually 65mm that allows for the size of the butterfly and is 70mm in diameter.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and the sooner the better.

Re: TB question

yeah 99-04 gt's have a 70mm TB, but a aftermarket TB is usless unless you have your intakes P&P to match

Re: TB question

Man, it can't be useless, this is a very common mod. I wanna know what the difference is between the stock and aftermarket one so i can tell this guy yay or nay.

Re: TB question

I'd get my money back and use it for something more usefull. There is no advantage to a stock size peice that I know of. You are gaining nothing and will deffinatly not "feel" any gains.

Re: TB question

Well i got my money back. But i'm still confused as to why anyone would buy an aftermarket 70mm TB. There has to be a reason they are better than stock; maybe the butterfly thing is smaller.

Re: TB question

stock is 65 its the inner part that is the diameter to measure. they are worthwhile on heavily modified cars (ie blower, turbo)
