94 Olds 88 with stalling/check engine problems

Help! Took the car to dealer to have diagnosed. They said IAT sensor. Bought a new one and replaced it. Check engine light was still on and it continues to stall, while driving, and approaching a stop. Not really predictable.

Same code given to AutoZone stated OBD II and required Throttle position sensor. I guess not standard computer codes?

Bought the throttle position sensor and replacement is underway. <crosses fingers>

One car family at the moment and two jobs that require this car. Mechanics can't even look at it till next week.

Any help for a non-mechanic husband that is beating his head on the wall?

Thanks so much!

What are the codes? Sounds more like an egr valve not seating than either the tps or iat, which usually would not cause stalling.

when you replace the tps if you get a check engine you have to use a multimeter to get the correct voltage make sure you mark where the old tps is so you can set the new one in the same position. also i had problems like that stalling and everything i dont know why but after i changed a whole bunch of crap i ran a can of seafoam through the gas and it cleared it up.

I'm not trying to steal the thread or anything.

I was just wondering what seafoam does, I always hear people talking about it but I never seen or knew exactly what it does.

Re: 94 Olds 88 with stalling/check engine problems

its a good engine cleaner i swear by it i was having problems with my car for over 5 months put a can in my gas and it fixed it. it cleans the carbon out of your engine you can run it through a vaccum hose put it in your oil or put it in your gas putting it in your oil it cleans out everywhere your oil goes putting it in your gas it cleans out your fuel system and putting it in a vaccum line or through carb/throttle body it cleans out carbon in your valves and cylinders works real good. Goes for about 7$ a can around me and they sell it at napa and autozone. www.seafoamsales.com if you decide to use some let me know how it works out for you
