Lightbulb Blower Motor or Relay / Fuse?

I just bought a 1998 - E350 v10 6.8L and the blower to the heater / ac does not work. When I picked up the van I tested the AC and the blower came on quickly (less than a second) than stopped running (I bought the van off ebay so I drove home regardless). As I was driving home the blower and cigarette lighters did not work but warm air worked its way into the cab (I believe because I was traveling at 77 mph.)

After reading previous threads and my repair manual (they suggest replacing the blower motor), I would like to ask if there is any other suggestions to my blower problem? And, is there a way to test the relay without buying one and replacing it?

Thanks,

OkieInNY (I'm new to fxing cars but trying to learn)

You may be able to test the blower motor by running jumper wires from the battery to the blower. If it works the problem is in the wiring if not, the problem is the motor. try cleaning the connection with electrical cleaner, that may help also.

Re: Blower Motor or Relay / Fuse?

i have the same problem. i have a 1994 e-150. my front a/c blower works properly with cold air but not my rear a/c blower. it does not function at all. i already connected the rear blower to the battery and it works. i also checked both a/c control switches and they work too. the fuse between the switch and the blower keeps burning out. it originally come with a 15 amp fuse. i tried various sizes of fuses all the way to 30 amps and they all burn out. is there a relay or some sort of solonoid located between the battery source, switch and blower motor? information will be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance!

Re: Blower Motor or Relay / Fuse?

You need to check the amps on the wire close to the motor. If you can't do this try a scrap yard blower motor. If a family member has a ford park it close and run a wire to that blower motor. If it don't blow a fuse buy a new motor. It could be another problem but a bad motor is more common.
