Talking Theres a new lady in my life!

Just thought Id let everyone know that my search for a cheap, 1/2 ass fuel efficient car is over. I bought my car a few hours ago. Shes nothing to brag about, and has not been given a name yet, but I was able to talk the dealer down quite a bit, and I fell in love with how this car handled and drove (probably loved it just because im used to my caprice now)

The car is a :
 • 1992 Nissan Sentra Classic
 • 130,000 Kms
 • 1.6L Engine / 5 Spd Standard

I can now modify the caprice however I like, as I wont need it for a daily driver. I dont have a pic of the sentra yet, but there is a crappy pic of it in the autotrader

Pros of the car:

Relitivly in-expensive purchase price
Good Fuel Economy
Good duribility
Good handling, and the shifter had a better feel than other cars I drove.
Fairly low milage (130,000K)
Cons of the car:

Ugly as hell (Damn White)
Fairly Old (its a 92)
No tach (This isnt a big deal to some, but If I have a standard, I want a tach, so I will be installing one)
The only thing that is bugging me at this point is....I WANT TO DRIVE IT!! I bought it in the evening, so I couldnt do any insurance, or getting plates for it. Im so pumped about this ugly ducking that I cant sleep, I will be at the ministry of transport offices bright and early tomorrow, and since I have the day off, I will be spending most of it driving around and showing friends my new toy

NISSAN OWNZ J00!!!

The Sentra rules. I have a glorified one for my Sophie. Gotta love it!

Congrats on the purchase! And yeah, go for the tach... it's helpful.

nah, good find mate, it isn't exactly ugly, boring but not ugly and although Sentra's are gutless as hell, they are great if economy driving is your thing

I believe thats a Pulsar/Sunny for those non Yanks out there.
(since its a 1600)

Thier not bad cars actualy, I looked at several before buying the Civic.
The only things I dont like about them are the High driving position (its feels like driving a truck) what for me were untollerable levels of body roll (and I was moving up from an old Triumph 2500TC which had gravel rash on the door handles) and that Damn Log for a rear axle.
Its actualy a backwards step for Nissan. My Fist car was a Nissan/Datsun 100a Cherry, and back in '77 that Four wheel independant Suspension. And I refuse to buy a newer more modern car with what is essentialy more primative enginering.

But the engine are almost bullet proof, no cam belt to worry about changing or breaking. The water pumps are prone to failing, but VERY easy to replace.

Just one Question, is it injected or Carbed?

and when are you swaping in the SR20det? or getting one of the Turbo kits?

Thanks for the info, Moppie. btw, its injected (MPFI)

About swapping in an SR20det, or a turbo.........It would make an awesome sleeper

I purchased it basically to save fuel, cause my caprice w/350 only gets around 11 mpg city / 19 mpg hwy. Also, I want to do some major engine work on the caprice (new cam, lifters, headwork, pistons) and get to my goal of 350rwhp for it by next summer, its got 296.4 rwhp now)

Re: Theres a new lady in my life!

Congrats and welcome to the Nissan family!! That's a 1992? Interesting..maybe it's a Canada thing, but that's a B12 if I ever saw one and in the US they switched to B13 in 1991. Oh well, I'm happy for you, Sentras are durable as heck, cheap to maintain/insure, and just all around good, good, good cars. I wouldn't mind owning another.

Ive been pretty busy with the car every day since I bought it, hence the reason for my lack of posts the last few days. I changed all the fluids, gave it a good wash and wax, and vacumed out the interior. Installed a pair of 12" JBL subs in the trunk, and put in a nice deck. Unfortionatly, the car wont accomodate my 6x9's for the rear deck, so right now its just 2 speakers up front and the subs. It rattles alot when the subs are up, but thats nothing a couple hours and a roll of dynomat wont fix. I love the great gas milage it gets, and even though its definitly not a sports car, its still lots of fun to drive around.

I took some pics last night, and was going to get them developed today, but its Canada Day here so everything is closed up tight. (Wish I had a digicam). I will get them developed tomorrow, and scan them for all.
