Dynamat On Spyder Trunk???

Sup guys,

Anyone ever applied dynamat in their spyder trunk? If so, how did it work out for you? Did it eliminate the trunk rattle? How difficult was the install? Did you do the entire trunk? How did it look? (pics would be great) I recently installed a Kicker L7 10" in my trunk, The inside of the car sounds sweet but on the outside all you hear is a lot of rattle which at times depending on what I'm listening too, travels inside the car. Feedback from Spyder owner's would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Dynamat On Spyder Trunk???

Dynamat will quiet everything down soooooo much. Its really good stuff. Just make sure you use a hairdryer or something to apply heat to it or it'll all come loose on a nice hot summer day. We found out in my friends car the hard way.

Re: Dynamat On Spyder Trunk???

trunk rattle? If your trunk lid is rattling replace the stoppers and springs. I had a sub in there and it was fine never rattled for me. If your talking about other stuff in the trunk just make sure it's all fastened down.

Let me rephrase that I dont mean rattle as in somethings loose, I mean vibrate which sounds like rattle, got me?

Re: Dynamat On Spyder Trunk???

Dynamat should solve your problem. Although it's expensive, it works like a dream. Every car I've ever put it in, it fixed the "rattling" problem that I had and sometimes the subs sound better because of how the dynamat reflects the sound.

Wouldnt have any pics would ya? If I have a correct idea of how it looks, I really wouldnt want to open my small trunk and have it look like a box of aluminum foil but then again I never really seen how it looks installed.

No I don't have any pics, but it does look like aluminum foil, with the dynamat logo of course. Doesn't look the hottest, but who shows off the inside of their trunk anyways?

Re: Dynamat On Spyder Trunk???

I thought about dynamat and the trunk, But then I decided to fiberglass a box, and take out my back seats...

Check my Spyder out now, it has its pros and cons...

There is no rattle though =] without spending 100 + on dynamat.

Re: Dynamat On Spyder Trunk???

My trunk in my spyder also vibrated bad. So I bought a trunk kit of dynamat. $130 I think. I took out all the interior panels in the trunk and applied the stuff to the bare metal. Then I reinstalled all the panels. I put the "extreme" stuff on the inside of the trunk lid on the recessed spots. It makes it sound way better, but in our cars there is no way to eliminate all the vibrations, thats just the down side of the drop top. After I fixed the trunk, one of the rear interior panels started to vibrate, so then I applied some dynamat to the underside of it. It seems like the longer I had the audio system, the more rattles and vibrations occured over time. I have had to keep going back and adding dynamat and fixing new rattles. But after having the system for around 6 months now, I think I have it the best it's gonna get. Also, I bet what is making the biggest vibration is your rear window flapping around, trust me I know, I had to deal with it, but you are going to have to come up with your own solution on that one. So basically, just turn up the system and feel every panel to see what is making the noise. Hope this helps. The only pic I have is of my trunk lid:

I have had mine installed for months now and it had never even tried to come off. I didn't use a hairdryer on it either. I just prepped all the surfaces before hand with rubbing alchohol. And I used a dynamat roller to apply the dynamat. Worked great.

I am sure you could rig up something man, but I dont conceal it... An easy way would be tints...

I have only had one break in and that was at my house, at about 3:30am,

cut open top, two broken windows, about 3500 bux in damage...

caught the kids though... so brand new top and windows for free!

they got nothing out of the car either, the stock alarm went off.

wish someone would do that to my top, i want a black one. I have an enclosure where my backseat used to be too, a friend and I put it together in about 8 hours or so, completely closes off the backseat are right flush to where the top drops into the compartment. I wanted to go fiberglass too but its expensive and we put this together for only about 50-60 bux. I dont have any good pics of it right now but i will get some up. I cant even believe that you fit a sub box in that tiny little trunk. I tried to do that but it was hopeless.

Re: Dynamat On Spyder Trunk???

Dynamat is deffinatly worth it. A friend of mine acctually just finished applying dynamat to the entire interior in his cab for his truck. He pulled up the carpet and panels and all and applied the dynamat to the metal then he got cheap carpet padding and put it over the dynamat then just put all the carpet/panels back on. It really does sound alot better now.
