Fuel Pump

I have a 1990 dodge daytona es non turbo 4 cylendor. I was wondering if anyone has had problems with this cars fuel pump? I took it to a repair shop and had alot of work done to it and now they say theres a problem with the puel pump. when you start it it works good but sometime u need to get out and kick the bottom of the fuel tank because the car will start spuddering or wont start. IDK if the pump has gone to hell or if the 2 feed wires might have come lose of if theres something else wrong with it. Anyone know anything else that could be wrong or have been threw this?? Thanks Hunter
