95 Integra GSR transmission problem
Hi, i stumbled across this board and was hoping there is an expert among you fine folks who can help me with my problem...
It started out as a first gear shudder, and it felt like the clutch wasn't disengaging well, but went away a few days later so i disregarded it and continued driving. Fast forward to a week or so later and the car just doesn't want to get out of gear, i push the clutch to the floor as soon as i try putting the shifter in a gear, it grinds to all hell. The only way i was able to shift gears was to turn the car off, put the car in the gear i wanted, then turn it on and shudder my way to a start. You can imagine how annoying this was when it started, right in the middle of stop and go traffic in the city... The clutch doesn't slip at all and feels like a relatively strong grip, so i don't think it is at all worn. Any advice at all you can give would be a life saver, thankyou in advance. -Mike |

It really sounds like a hydraulics problem. The clutch in 'tegs is moved by a hydraulic clutch system (like brake systems are)... it has clutch fluid and a master cylinder, just like the brake system. Chances are good that your problem is:
(1) bad clutch fluid, (2) broken/cracked line, or (3) bad master cylinder Those would be the best to immediately check. I don't know the details of flushing/bleeding the clutch fluid, but I imagine it would be in the car's shop manual, if you have one. |
