ABS Sensors/2WD hub assemblies

OK...I saw a couple of posts regarding these that raised a question for me.

If an ABS sensor goes bad, you guys are stating that the entire hub assembly needs replacement. In changing my own hubs, I screwed around with the old ones, and was able to remove the ABS sensors. Is there a particular reason why this component can't and/or shouldn't be replaced individually?

Re: ABS Sensors/2WD hub assemblies

2WD has a pulse ring on the hub. The sensor is mounted to the spindle and is serviced separately.
