This is my original thread for my project plan:
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...project+spyder I thought I had it all figured out at the time. But after doing some thinking, I have made some changes in my plan. In case your wondering why I do so much planning and so little tuning, its because if I'm going to spend all this money on my ride, I'm going to make sure it's right! Im taking my project in steps. The first step was audio which is 95% complete. The next step is suspension which I already have completely planned and which I will be starting on soon. The first suspension mods will be added In the next few months as I will be installing some Tein SS-P coilovers and some 18 inch Enkei's with Kumho tires. I will post lots of pics upon completion, so look out. After that there will be some slight carbon fiber exterior pieces added. After I get my car handling like its on 'roids and looking like a racecar, of course I am going to need a bad ass engine. And as most of you know my mostly stock 4G64 ain't gonna cut it. Originally I wanted to build it as a high compression all motor...uh, motor, with a 4G63 head swap. But I have been thinking that as much money as I would put into this motor I could just swap in a 4G63T motor for less money and still have more power. I just need help deciding which motor to swap in. I'm sure I could easily find a 6 bolt eclipse motor, but whats the fun in that? I was thinking something like an Evo 3 motor. I seen a whole Evo 3 front clip on the net for sale. I also saw a Galant VR-4 front clip. What engines should I consider and what do you think about these two? Whatever motor I get I want it to be powerful in stock trim because I want to keep it mostly stock for reliability purposes. Tell me what you think and give me your suggestions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if it seems like I wrote a whole novel. vanilla gorilla

Re: My Spyder project plan has become murky.....need help making decisions
If I was in your situation I would keep the 4g64 bottom end and slap on the 63 head and build it and boost it and you would have yourself a bad ass 2.4L. Thats what I want to do with my talon but I dont have the cash for it now

Re: My Spyder project plan has become murky.....need help making decisions
Why would you spend the extra money on an evoIII or Galant engine? They are the same thing.
I would do as pr_ricer suggested, keep the 4g64 block, go with a 4g63 head, and boost the bitch. |

Re: My Spyder project plan has become murky.....need help making decisions
I think that combo would be very streetable and probably easier than a full swap. Look into both and see whats cheaper/easier

Re: My Spyder project plan has become murky.....need help making decisions
you could always turbo the 4g64 sohc. then swap the heads later thats what I was planning on doing with my old 2.4l

Re: My Spyder project plan has become murky.....need help making decisions
I think he would run into fitment issues when he goes to swap the head if he aleady had a turbo setup on it

Re: My Spyder project plan has become murky.....need help making decisions
If you do the swap you have to pull the engine out anyway. It would be better to just rebuild the 2.4 and swap in the 4g63 head. Than you basiclly have a 2.4lt GS-T
