Question Dashboard Replacement on '91 Accord.

Listen guys, I own a 91 Honda Accord and I need help in replacing my dashboard. I need to know how to remove the steering wheel, equipped with air bag, safely without damaging it. I also need to know what's involve in doing this task myself. I know that the dashboard assembly is being held up with seven screws. What other difficult part is there that I'm not aware of? I just want to approach this very carefully and not f*#k it up. Thanks for any advice!

Try the Accord forum first of all. I would strongly advise you buy a Helms manual (www.helmco.com) That is very useful for any work you do on your car. Or go to your local parts store and get a Chiltons or any repair manual for your car. It should tell you everything you need to do.

Good luck

Correct me if I'm wrong but to take a dash out of the Accord you don't have to take the steering wheel off.. As far as the steering being removed... Disconnect the red battery terminal and just to be double safe pull out the fuse referenced to the air bag deployment system.. Then you will need a steering wheel puller, which can be rented at your local auto parts store... But definately get you some reading material, it will definately help... they are more than worth there money...

That's all a bunch of crap... what do you need a steering wheel puller for. Removing the dash from a 90-93 accord is fairly simple. Yes, you do have to take off the steering wheel. Make sure you disconnect the battery, and/or remove the fuse labeled "SRS"

Remove the steering wheel, then you have to remove your Light, and you washer column thingy. Make sure you get all the screws, to take off the dash.

There are 2 on each side of the dash board, 2 in the middle under your radio. There is one behind the clock on your dash board. I think the biggest problem is all the wires behind the dash. Make sure you disconnect all of them, remember where they go and how the wires get to where they are. There are a lot of wire clips that connect them to the dash, so you have to pull out or cut most of those.

I just did mine a few days ago, I pulled mine out and repainted it then put it back in. Looks nice!

I hope this helps a lil bit, if you want me to help you with more detail you can message me in AOL Instant Messenger. my name is ----

dash

let me just add this.. i removed the dash from my 92 accord.. a few months ago, for a paint job.

they are alot of weird screws to find in order to removed it.
but i removed it find without having to remove the wheel. might be easier to work on the dash without the wheel... like for example on installing indiglos... but you definatly can remove it without removing the wheel.

Hey Shokjon,

Is your 93 Accord a Manual, or an Auto???

If its an auto... I need the Center console, with the cup holder, and everything.. including screws.

Thanks

Kucoloco,

Just to clear things up, there are two types of stock dashboard out there available for (90-93)Honda Accord. One with OPEN bottom which you can remove without dealing with the steering wheel and the other one with CLOSED bottom (which happens to be my type.)
