Question bad acceleration

I have a 2001 SE with the 2.4 liter and the 5 speed tranny. When I am at a dead stop, my car hesitates a really lot between 1k-3k rpm's. Once I get to 3000, it moves fine. Is this normal, or do you think something needs to be replaced, cleaned... anything like that. It only really hesitates when I give it a lot of gas, when im trying to take off really fast. any help would be awesome

Re: bad acceleration

I was having the same issue with my 96 GAGT with a 2.4 & 5 speep tranny, it turned out to be a combination in my car. I had this go on for about 2 years, No one could find my problem, I replaced coil packs several times I replaced plugs and wire just as many times I replaced the ignition housing , It finally got so bad that it clogged up mt cat converter, I had such a miss fire that it was dumping raw gas into the converter.

Any way I had it taken to a garage and they finally came up with the problem. First we replaced the coil packs and plugs and wires. Problem continued, then they found that the ignition module was bad. I had that replaced and they did an injector cleaning. After all of that I think that the GAGT ran better than it did on the day i took it home. I have not had another problem since then and it has been at lease a year.

You may want to take your car and have a professional injector cleaning done. Your local parts store should be able to twll you who does that in your area. A professional cleaning gets rid of more build ups than using the aftermarket stuff. I had it done for about $60.00 in my area.

Let me know if you have any more questions
