new 450z...

i keep hearing rumors about nissan's new 450z that is supposedly coming out late 2006 or 2007. i hear this beast is going to have a 4.5 liter v-8 under the hood. what do you guys make of this? if this car is produced i think it will put a benchmark on the z forever. the thought of a z car with a v-8 from the factory is ungodly if you ask me.

Meh, when I think of a japanese sports car, a v8 really doesn't come to mind, but I'm a Nissan guy, so I'll stand by em' in almost all the decisions they make.

i doubt it...

they just released the GTR proto-type which is rumored to have a Twin Turbo V6, that is about it.

i would be amazingly surprised if they went different than the 350Z. especially beings they can sap a little more power out of it and the fact that if they go any higher in power it will get it into a different class which means a different tax.

but ya never know, i guess they could but i would be surprised if they did at as soon as 2006-2007. i expect them to make a body change on the 350Z before going to a whole new breed.

i agree with k3. nissan is just getting done with the GT-R so i doubt they would really want to come out with a brand new Z so soon. they might do minor changes to the current 350Z, but i doubt anything much. they already made some minor changes to it, all the new 350Z's now come with 300hp.

the 350Z needs a total make over so it doesnt look like a frog...

^lol. I think a V8 in a 350Z would be awesome. but a V6TT is prolly just as good, if not better.

this will be no Z...this V6TT will be in the GTR. i doubt the Z line will see a Turbo for a long time. not with the growing power in N/A form...

the 450Z i an option for the future just not as near as 2007, but ya never know. the VK45DE is in production and would be cheap and easy for Nissan to just throw it in the Z car...

i would have a hard time standing behind nissan if they put a V-8 in a Z. that is just blasphemy.

well, its gonna happen chief,sooner or later. for Nissan to make the performance numbers they will need to acheive, keep prices down, and keep reliabilty they will need to increase displacement and cylinder numbers eventually. just maybe you could get lucky and get a Performance Hybrid V6.

anyways, a V8 isnt all that bad...that just means the GTR will then sport a Twin Turbo V8.

i still say that they should stick with a Twin Turbo V-6. turbocharging a lower-compression VQ would make a lot more power, enough to suffice adding 2 cylinders. there IS replacement for displacement.

there isnt a replacement for displacement but there are alternatives...

but how reliable will a turbo VQ35 be. i know they have a turbo VQ30 but how good will gas mileage be with that set-up. it would be alot cheaper and a better decision for Nissan to just use their proven VK. its already in prouction and makes good power with a luxury tune. i would like to see a turbocharged VQ as much as you but it doesnt make sense. our luck Japan will get the good stuff and we will got something N/A.

well, now that they have a twin turbo V-6 in the new GT-R, i wouldnt be surprised if we see a detuned version of that in the next Z. does anybody know if that is a VQ engine in the GT-R?

its a rumored VQ32DETT or a VK series V8. but the Twin Turbo has been talked about ALOT more. no one is sure on the displacement yet but he 3.2L is rumored.
