Need help, check engine light, new driver!
Hey i'm a new driver and my check engine light just turned on. This happened while under heavy driving. I have a 94 prizm base i believe, and i was tryign to keep up with a few people so I was very heavy on the gas... when we got to our destination the light was on.
I've tried every autozone and they only do 96's and up, can anyoen else suggest a place for me to get the code or get checked for free? Because everone else charges 80+. Thanks a lot! |

Re: Need help, check engine light, new driver!
Do a search on this forum or on any major Chevrolet model for 'checking CEL codes'. There is a way to jump the pins on the diagnostic port to get the light to flash on pre '96 cars. Count the flashes and use your search again to determine the corresponding count to what the problem is. On a car that old, it could be just about anything causing the light to come on after a hard race, I mean drive. Good luck, once you know what it is you're able to choose whether it needs immediate attention or not.
