CB anyone?

I have a NBS 2000 Silvy with Buckets and I want to know if ya'll have pics of a possible CB location. I wanna put one in the truck but not sure where. I was thinkin about that little flap above the cupholders. Any pics or info would help. Also I want to go with dual whips and any pics or info on running coax cables would be gret to

Have you allready got the radio? If there is a CB with a remote control head that is what I would use and a LoBoy dash mount that sticks to the dash and swivels. I am a ham and used a dual band radio with a remote head and mounted the LoBoy mount down low above the cubby hole on a 2005 Silverado. I roof mounted the antenna via the access that the dome light gives to the roof. Pretty tough to route coax and power cables into the cab from outside thru the firewall. In my last truck I ended up just drilling a hole in the firewall to route them to the inside. For a standard Cb I would get power from the cigar lighter or accessory plug as a 5 watt rig does not require much power. You migh look around in the engine compartment at the firewall for any grommets or area perhaps around the steering assembly that you can get the coax through. It is all pretty tight in there I found, on a 4 wheel drive or truck more so than on a car. Sometimes you can find a plastic plug that allows access thru that was for some accessory that you don't have. Good luck, you will find a way!

Hey Hurricane what exactly are we talking about

because I don't really know much about CBs so can you put any of this lame-mans terms? Pictures would be great too.

if you can get a cb with a mike to control the functions. mounting it under the center seat is the way to go.

I have mine under the glove box. the antenna goes out the rear vent in the cab. you can see it by looking bettween the cab and bed. to get to the vent you must remove the cardboard behind the seat. the power comes from the power socket. if any one bumps the plug you will lose power to the cb. i have tryed just about ever type of plug on the market. its just one of the things that happens. its a pain when some one is riding with you.

I haven't bought one yet but I am planning on the Cobra 25 NW which is
6 1/4" wide x 2 1/8 tall x 8 5/8 deep. I don't think it will fit inside of that little door but probably if I take it out it would. Just have to do some measuring when I get a sec

I've mounted tons of CB's and 2-way radios.....I'm trying to locate a spot that you'll like.

Measure that hole above the cupholders. Here's the dimensions for the unit you listed above.

7 1/4" x 2 1/4" x 8 5/8"

THe depth is the main thing here, as is the width. I think it would fit width, wise, but the depth is someething you need to check. As for running the coax, since you are mounting it in the console, you can runall the wires behind it, under the carpet to the channel where the door is to the rear of the truck where there is a grommet that will let you run it outside the truck to the bed. Dual whips mean 2 coax cables, remember that.

Well I did some measuring and I think that it will be easier to stuff a CB in the tape deck slot above the cubby hole. Depth is good but width and height are a little off so I will have to take the dremel to er and make it happen. So when I get some time to make it happen I will try and post pics.

Try looking on cardomain.com. They have tons of pics of members rides and there has got to be some of them with cb's in it. I haven't looked for myself because I don't have or want a cb, but I have looked for suggestions on audio equipment and there are alot of pics on there. Good luck. 10-4 over and out. lol

Gremlin; insteadof a cig adapter; why not route it to an unused hookup in the fuse panel down by the E brake?

It's black plastic with a plastic nut to hold the cover on. I know some of the unused fuses (Unused on my '02 ls) are switched; and if needed you can get the 12v constant on from the same place. (Another unused fuse space)

This is an excellent idea. I did this with my power supply for my strobes and they work fine and the wires are completely out of sight.
