95 Plymouth Grand Voyager Sliding Door lock intermittent

Another problem: Passenger Sliding Door Lock intermittent. Sometimes it takes 6-12 times unlock/lock switching to finally unlock the sliding door.
Key does not help what so ever. Only electric switch on passenger or drivers door will activate it after 6-12 times unlock/lock switching action.

Please advise!

Re: 95 Plymouth Grand Voyager Sliding Door lock intermittent

I had this problem.
The door is hung up on the latch.

You either have to lift the door, push in on the top of the door or pull out on the top of the door as you open the latch. (can remember exactly which way it was). I used an ice scrapper.

Again, the door is hung up on the latch is the problem.

Sounds like either dirty door contacts, a binding lock actuator or the linkage/lock mechanism is binding. Find the door contacts towards the bottom of the door and rub them with a pencil eraser. If they are pitted or severly corroded replace them. To check the other possibilities you'll have to remove the interior door panel and inspect. Please let us know what you find.

The only experience I've had with malfunctioning door locks (96 GC) was about 3 years ago. The passenger side sliding door would not lock or unlock at all with either the door switch or the remote key switch. Would work manually. Found the little tab on the mechanism the actuator connects to bent to the point the actuator disconnected from the mechanism. I welded a screw in place of the tab to fix it.
