Exclamation Please Help!!

I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am that stopped running yesterday. It ran fine, I turned it off, then 5 minutes later when I restarted it, it started, ran very rough then turned itself off and the check battery and oil lights came on. My oil was very low, battery is fine... would low oil cause a Grand Am to turn itself off?

The BIGGER question I have is this though:

How do I check the internal computer on my car so the readings are displayed on my gauges?

If the car doesnt start and the keys on the lights will light up on the cluster.
On the oil, YES it should shut off if the oils really low.

Your car has ODB_II which doesnt hav the flashing lights and counting... You need a scanner for the codes, it plugs into a spot under teh steering wheel. Most auto stores will check and clear codes stored in the pcm.
But if no SES or SVS lights were on when it was running fine, you may not hav any codes stored.

Re: Please Help!!

Also keep in mind that not all codes produce an SES light the first time theres an error. For instance a MAF failure, only produces a light on the second error. Can be a real PITA at times.

As mentioned, find someone with a Tech II to read your PCM (or someone with aftermarket tuning software to scan for PCM codes; note these do not scan BCM codes.....yet)
