When I first step on the accelerator pedal it resists and then pops free.
I cannot see what is making it hang. Has anyone experienced or solved this problem? |

I have the same problem in my 1997 SC2 (5-speed). It feels like a mechanical sticking problem, so we should check the throttle cable, the gas pedal hinge, and the parts around the throttle body.
I think the cable should be lubricated with graphite powder, and I might try WD-40 for the other parts. Any other ideas? -Ken |

Same problem here
I also have a 95 SC1, and it had the same problem.
I removed the throttle body, and cleaned all the buildup and stuff off the inside with carbureator cleaner. That helped. If your car has problems idling, then you should clean the IAC valve while you have the throttle body off. You dont happen to have a black drivers-side front fender laying around do you? I got in a minor wreck, and mine shattered.

find the throttle stop screw it should be covered by a tiny metal or rubber cap take it off with a punch and turn the screw to tighten till the problem resolves.. BTY the screw is by the left bottem if you are looking at the inlet from the drivers side...(remove the intake tubing) its by where the stop is at on the throttle butterfly
