Misfire

I've had this problem for a while and it keeps getting worse.. First it would misfire very bad with a code for a front o2 sensors, I replaced them both and same thing, If i unplugged both o2 sensors it would run fine untill about a month later it started making a diesel/old school buss type sound comming from the passenger side floor board and a few minutes later it started misfiring very bad. Every time I try driving it now it sounds like a diesel and starts misfiring after about 10 minutes. It idles pretty good but when trying to accelerate it will miss for several seconds at 0rpm but it never stalls even though i'm going like 5mph.. i can hit the gas several times pretty hard then all of a sudden it gets up and goes again. the tachmometor is jumping around like crazy somtimes and when accelerating it will read like 4,500rpm but judging by the sound of the engine its really at like 2,500rpm.. The coil, distributor, ecu, plug wires and spark plugs have been replaced to no avail. if anyone can help i'd be thankfull.

Re: Misfire

Whenever you post it's a good idea to tell us what kind of car you have........I was going to say the ignition system but it seems you allready covered that. Not really possible to help you much further so you might as well take the car to the shop.

Re: Misfire

your icm may be going out due to the tach jumping because it shares a ignition source with the tach.

before dianosing your misfires, is this cylinder specific or random? basically, what exaclty are the codes? cylinder specific misfires are more fuel and ignition related as compared to random misfires which can range from your egr, to your ckp, to your ig1 or ig2 source.

also wouldnt hurt to know what year, make, and model this is.

Re: Misfire

Its a 90 acura legend v6 2.7 liter. It seems to be cylinder 1 when idling, I figured this out by holding the plug near a ground and pulling the throttle cable. Simply pulling the throttle cable doesnt misfire nearly as bad as when driving, when driving i'd say every cylinder misfires and there doesnt seem to be any combustion at all for a several seconds except for a random putter. It actually drives pretty good for the first 10 mins or so of run time with an occasional miss and feels more like a 4cyl than a v6 but after that i have to keep letting go and hitting the gas untill it gets up and goes. the slower i'm going and the slower i accelerate is when its at its worst, If i stomp the gas it will putter out for a few seconds then do 0-60 in like 5 seconds.
