battary draw

I am looking for a draw on the battery of my 1992 dodge w250. With the neg bat cable unhooked should I read voltage between the neg post and the neg cable?

You should only read voltage between the positive and the negative (post or cable), not the negative to another negative. You should, however, have continuity between the negative post and the negative cable.
