Door Latch Problem

Hi

1992 Buick Century

My door latch is stuck in the wrong position and now I cannot close my driver's side door?

I thought it was frozen so I waited a couple of hours until it could thaw. I opened my passenger side door to compare positions and now I got that latch stuck too! All I did was tilt the latch upwards and now it is locked into place in the wrong position?

I tried locking and unlocking the doors and turning on the engine and shifting into drive (that automatically locks the doors) but to no avail.

How do I get my latches back to the proper position?

thanks

mopek

Re: Door Latch Problem

Try operating the door handle (unlock the doors first.) It sounds like the latch is in a "door closed" position. Locking and unlocking the door won't help, that just allows you use the handles. You may need to move the latch to an open position (I'd use the tip of a screwdriver rather than fingers!) as you operate the handle.

Good Luck!
