no heat

Is there anyway of checking trouble codes to find out why i am getting very little heat? Engine Temperature guage is normal it doesn't over heat and it goes about halfway up the guage even on the coldest days.

Does the head unit have a check code function?

not sure what i should check first

thermastat
heater core
control unit
i read in one of the threads somthing about an actuator or something.

I need heat any help would be great!

Hello, one of the maint. books say a possible cause is a code 17 been set. If a code 17 comes up, change the thermostat. Also coolant level low or old coolant, heater hose kinked, some models are equiped with a water control valve on the heater hose this maybe defective. This is a quote from the book on water pump. (Water pump is not pumping water to the heater core. When the engine is fully warmed up, both heater hoses should be hot. If only one is hot, the pump may not be operating correctly. The accessory drive belt may also be slipping causing poor operation) There also could be a obstruction in your heater hose, remove it and check.
I hope this gives you some help.
Ivan.

Re: no heat

I too have a similar issue with no heat, I was beginning to suspect a blown head gasket, however after some diagnoses have come to the conclusion that this is not the case I HOPE!!. I have been trying to bleed the air from the system, as I read from a post here, opening and closing the bleed valve at the thermostat housing, but I am beginning to run out of patience. Seems that I cannot get the air out of the system. Any other ways or means of bleeding the air would be greatly appreciated. HMM...Maybe I do have a head gasket blown??
