Need advice on problems with rag top

All,

The rag to on my '99 bxtr is showing visible signs of tear in the fabric in 8 different places (identical, 4 on each side). Tried to determine the cause but am baffled. Before I bring it in to the dealer, I thought I'd ask for some advice...

Thanks in advance.
