Smile back with questions about the 96 contour

hello again, 96 2.0 dohc i need the best way to check the egr valve for proper operation and how to check the vacuum.also if you read this skater on the reply to my last post about this car not idling right you said if i was off one tooth on any of the pully the car would die when just putting it into drive or reverse. mine does that but you can keep your foot on the gas pedal and it will stay running, so do you think that it would still be out of time or am i just having other problems with my idle. thanks in advance.

Re: back with questions about the 96 contour

mine would stay running if you kept your foot on the brake/gas at the same time. the second you took your foot off the gas it would stall out.

simple way to check your timing is to pull the valve cover off. and crank the engine till cylinder 1 is TDC (top dead center) and see if the notches int he cams are aligned.
