Question My 2003 Grand AM will not start

I have a 2003 4 door Grand AM SE2 v6. It has 53,400 miles on it. Garage kept. This morning the car would not start for the first time since I purchased it. All my lights and indicators went. A bit dimmer than usual. But when I turned the key I heard a slight Hmmm. but nothing else. I charged the battery with the same results. I purchased a new battery and got the same results. Does anyone recognize the problem and is there a way to get it started so I can get to a service station. Just last night it ran perfect. Please let me know if you can help. Thank you

Re: My 2003 Grand AM will not start

It sounds like the starter or the starter solenoid has gone bad on your vehicle. If you hear a hum it is probably the starter attempting to engage but it is simply spinning like a motor turning. The only way to actually find out would be to remove the starter and have it tested. This can be done with basic hand tools but if you have never removed one you may want to find someone to help you.
