94 model: Driver's door is stuck locked!!
Hey guys! I've been having some probs. with my passport lately and as positive as I can be about stuff...I can't make the stuff not go wrong! along with some electrical problems that I finally got straightened out, My driver's side door lock will now not unlock at all making it impossible for me to open the door...I now have to get into my car through the passenger side and while I can still get into my car this way, It is very much a annoying to me to have to!! Any tips on how to either trip the mechanism itself to unlock it or get the door open somehow so that I can finally take the panel off and look at it from the inside!
P.S.: It doesn't have A/T Locks...the driver's side door, when locked and unlocked, unlocks the rest of the doors! There is no fuse for the A/T Locks underneath the hood with the rest of the fuses...it's just blank!! |

Re: 94 model: Driver's door is stuck locked!!
I know this sounds odd, but try to take the drivers seat out (four bolts aon the floor) and see if you can't get to the screws on the bottom of the door panel from there. If you can get those out, you can probaly get the rest of the dor panel off, and then get to the locking mech. Good Luck.

Re: 94 model: Driver's door is stuck locked!!
sorry about your luck, i had the same problem with my 1994 rodeo. i did what the guy before me said and took the seat out and all the plastic under the dash. with a stubby flexible, or one of those s bend screw drivers you can get the screws out and get the panel off. it takes a lot of pulliing and bending . if i remember correctly i also took the trim that covers the door sill all the way around off so as not to break it, then i used a small pry bar and got the back of the door off, and then was able to wiggle it out. but ya have to be careful because ya can rip the vinyl or whatever that covers the door.
And whats worse is after i got the door panel off all that had happened was that one of those crappy little plastic connectors that connects the locking rod to the other one had broken. Hope this helps ya Dave. |
