2001 SL2 cold starting problem

I just bought a 2001 SL2. When I try to start the car first thing in the morning or after it's sat for a long time, it doesn't start right away. The accesories work, but when I turn to the start position nothing happens. No click, no trying to turn over, nothing. I'll turn the key a few times and eventually it will start. It will continue to start normally until it sits for an extended period of time again. Any ideas? Thanks.
