Posi Lock questions

While looking at SummitRacing.com I found a posi lock system which replaces the vacuum actuator under the battery tray. I read some of the concerns about it on the VACUUM ACTUATOR HOW TO thread.

Anyway have any of you used purchased one of these? I wonder if I should get it since my 4wd is broken. Is this product a fix all type of thing that will maybe fix most of the problems I have with the faulty vacuum actuators/hoses/etc.?

Re: Posi Lock questions

Read my comments on them in that same thread.
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=498812
They are made out of cheap hardware store junk, and I've been stuck without 4wd working twice because of the cheap clamps allowing the cable to slip.

The don't respond to complaints (I've e-mailed them and they haven't respondeed), and I know that they haven't tried fixxing the problems. (they might have to spend another $2.00 to make a better kit)

If they were better quality they would eliminate all your vaccum related 4wd wow's. Nothing that wasn't vaccom related.

I'm thinking of trying to design my own version using a power door lock actuator instead of a cable.
If this system works you could even wire it into your 4wd switch and make it fully automatic.

I won't be able to work on this design for at least 2 weeks, but IF I come up with something that works reliably I'll post it as free public information.

I'm thinking that it'll cost next to nothing to make this setup with autowreck parts.

Re: Posi Lock questions

Sound like a good idea you have going......

Why dont manufacturers keep things from going wrong in the first place. If they could of came up with an idea similar to yours in the first place, they could of saved themselves a bunch of money and their consumers a lot of money.

Havent they ever heard of K.I.S.S. KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID complicated things are just gonna break more often.

It is not difficult or expensive to mainatin the vacuum system. You can replace all components for less than the cost of the posi....
