Meet the Parents

When you met your significant other's parents/your in-laws for the first time, did you find it more intimidating to face the mother or the father?

Personally, I was terrified of meeting his father as he's a circuit court judge.

The dad because he was really intelligent. I find intelligent people to be intimidating.

and the mother was a nut so she didn't scare me.

I met her parents before her and I got together, they still don't know we're together. But I'd have to say her dad more.

THE FATHER DUDE!!!!! he was mad strick... but when i came to meet them i came with a suit.. dressed to impress.. then. as he was coming down the stairs , i was like damn!! he looks as mean as he sounds.. so as i got up to shake his hand.. i noticed he was like 5'3'' and i'm 5'7'' hehehehehe.. after that i was very confortable with my situation. he had to look up to me.. instead of me looking up to him. but he was very cool.. really old fashion but cool.

Definitely the mother! Always worry that you’re never good enough.

I can't say that I love meeting parents, but parents seem to love meeting me...

Sure, it's a little bit of role-playing in that I make myself out to be very quiet and well-mannered where as with friends I can be quite boistrous and in search of a limelight... But I don't know that I've ever feared one parent over the other. Although one ex's mom did concern me, as she was his only remaining parent, and I wanted to be seen as good enough.

Mostly, parents love me so I don't dread it any more than I dread meeting anyone else new.

Update

Well, I met his parents last weekend and it went really well. I brought his mother flowers and suprisingly, she had bought me a small gift, a book. His mother had gone to great detail to prepare a wonderful dinner and after a short span of time, I was eagerly talking with his entire family. I warmed up far more quickly to his mother than his father. When we left three hours later, his mother gave me a hug and his whole family saw us out. Indeed, Brian's mother later informed him that I was, "absolutely charming, adorable, and sweet". I have her fooled.

1) I actually don't have another life on this board, not like I used to and for that, I'm a much better person. 2) Yes, I've actually brought him here. No, he is not a member.

Any other questions?
