All i get is a clicking...

One day last week i was fixing the speaker wires in the trunk of my 1991 98 R-Elite, and after i finished i went to start it to go to work and now all it does is click when i turn the key. It was running totally fine and now when i give it a jump/get it started it runs EXTREMELY rough. My automotvie teachers have looked at it, and I've replaced the coil pack and I'm about to change the spark plugs and spark plug wires due to corosion. I also believe that the air pump for the air shocks is whats draining my battery, and also the interrior lights because after i shut it off and take out the key the pump kept going and the lights wouldnt shut off. The battery is brand new. Im just really confused. PLEASE HELP!

I don't know if there's a relay for the pump or not. I do know the load leveler in the rear will make it run. It coud be faulty or maybe you have a leaky line. For now untill you find the problem, remove the fuse when you shut the car off, that'll help keep the battery fresh.

Re: All i get is a clicking...

Well heres what ive dont in the past week to my car.....
  • I changed the spark plug wires, coil, and plugs
  • I charged the battery SEVERAL times
  • Took the fuse out that ran the air shock pump
It was turning over and starting, as well as running fine for about 3 days, then after i started it a few times it wont start anymore. I'm not sure if the pump totally drained the battery, which i dont get because its only 4-5 weeks old, or if i need a new starter. But as of right now all I am getting again is a clicking when i turn they key PLEASE HELP!
thank u all,
Ryan

Well it could be the icm, starter, starter solenoid, or the alternetor. The diodes in the alternator could be bad causing voltage loss when the car is off. I'd try testing the charging system after you get it started. Will if start with a jump?
