boost controller for rt tt

i have a 92 rt tt, and i was wondering what anyone thinks is the best boost controller out there, i dont want a manual one either, i did the free boost mod and i was just wondering what kind of boost controller to get and whats the max i can run my stock turbos with out changing my fuel system and what not

Lets start by making sure you know to ignore the stock boost guage and get an after market guage.

The "free boost" mod gets you about 12.5 psi on a 92 TT. Without fuel system modifications setting the boost past about 14.5 on pump gas is asking for trouble. 2psi is not much in the grand scheme of things.

Not knowing your current modifications I'd suggest the following:
1) Gut the precats, Gut the main cat or replace it with a test pipe or hi-flow cat. .
2) Get an open element air intake.
3) replace the stock downpipe.

The three steps above will result in more peformance than the 2 pis you'd be able to run from an EBC.

Once you think your ready for a EBC first get a datalogger. this will allow you to see what the car is really doing and make sure you do not kill the engine.


All that said All of the EBC's see good the apeix avc-r and the greddy sbc-id seem to be the top. Depending on your long term goals you might be better with a device like the maft-T pro that really can allow you to change you air intake system, fuels system and control boost.

Why don't you want a mbc? They are proven to be the most reliable source of boost control and by far the cheapest. Its not a big deal to change your boost by opening up the hood. Save yourself $300 and get a Joe-P MBC.

well, all a turbo timer does is idle your car for a minute or so after you take the keys from the ignition. This allows you to get out of the car, lock it up, and go sit on your fat ass and eat your TacoBell while your car idles, circulating oil and coolant to your turbos, thus allowing them to cool properly (without you having to sit in the car). If you dont cool your turbos after a hard run, and just shut the car off, the oil stops flowing and just sits on the turbo and bakes or "cokes" and causes sort of a clot. If this happens enough times, oil flow to your turbo will be restricted, wich can lead to premature bearing burnout, and ultimately wreck your turbine.

a boost controller....well...controls how much boost your running into your intake. The higher the boost (or pressure) the more aire is squeezed into the combustion chamber, the more horsepower you make. If you overboost, or boost more that your current fuel system can keep up with, you can damage your engine.
