Re: 90 tranny probs

Hi, John, RE, Your junkyard probe trans, Would you please define half shaft cup? Do you mean the end of a half shaft? Or a plastic plug to keep the oil in and the dirt out....If it's a plastic plug keep trying, it will come out. Let me know how you make out.....Clay...

Re: 90 tranny probs

Hi, John, I think this is why your trans was in the junk yard, But don't panic, At the end of the half shat where it fits into the trans is what is known as a shure clip, It's like a snapring, It fits in a groove on the end of the shaft and compress when the shaft is pushed into the trans, then it expands into a groove in the side gear in the carrier, this keeps it from popping out after installation, These clips get distorted if not installed correctly, therefore they get jammed in the side gear, Your prybar method is the only way I know of to remove the stub, Let"s be carefull now and use 2 prybars and pry evenly ontne stub 180 degrees from each other so we don't crack the trans case, Worst case scenario is that the splines are stripped on the half shaft and it's frozen in the side gear, Let's hope this is not so...Keep trying, GOOD LUCK..Clay,,

Re: 90 tranny probs

Hi, John.....Your NO start and driveability problems are not a trans problem, BUT, I will try to help out, When you did the swap on the trans, you probably knocked something loose or foregot to reconnect it....You will have to tripple check ALL the wiring connections,Like maybe the MAF sensor, This is a common one, Perhaps the main, Large, hose from the throttle body to the air box is fractured and has a leak, Another important item, How about vac, hoses and connections, Don't feel bad these are all common mistakes. You just have to go over all the possibilities again, This is the best I can do without being there to help, GOOD LUCK.....Clay...
