:badass: Most v6 tbirds that aren't SC are notorious for head gasket problems. That would be the worst thing that would probably happen. Other than that almost everyone that gets one loves it. I really love my 4.6l.

Still getting to know the car, Any particular idiocyncrasies I should know about??

does anyone have any guides/specs/prices on a v6 to v8 conversion? Also does anyone think it would be worth it or should i try another route?

any 4 to 6
6 to 8
8 to 10
etc is always a hard conversion, you add weight, need for better brakes, different suspension, wiring harnuses etc. Its doable...but unless you really love your car, or maby beef out your 6.

:badass: Sleekcat, It would cost alot and probably the car isnt worth it. If you wanted to drop in something that isnt usually in that car (like something other than turning the 3.8 tbird into a 4.6) your probably going to come across alot of problems with the electronic equipment on newer cars. It just seems like pumping up a 6 is alot cheaper.
Dentaldoc, congrats on the tbird. As far a idiocyncrasies go i havent really come across to many with my bird. It does like to shift at wierd speeds. Sometimes on cruise at about 30-35mph it will shift up and down like it cant find one that it likes. I belive that is just how the computer is programed. Also i know that you shouldnt take a hose to clean the engine because of some chance of water getting into the spark plugs or something (my friend the dealer told me that). Really nothing big that i know of.

I know this is offtopic in this thread, but if you add a superchip to a stock t-bird your gonna blow your tranny. They firm it up alot more than the valvebody can handle.

:badass: Are you sure? What would need to be done to the tranny for the diablo chip to be workable.

Well, I know -most- chips put too much force into the tranny for it to take. A good shift kit from B&M or Trans-Go would defentally improve it, and you could have everything else changed that the chip would do at a good dyno. (Shift points, shift firmness, air/fule ratio, timing, etc)

I was going to do a chip, but I heard alot of peoples trannys giving out because it was too hard of a shift for the stock valve bodys. The shift kit should solve this. If you can find a good speed shop, ask them for help.
