5 speed hard to shift when warm

Hey

I got a 93 Metro 1.0L that I just bought with 82 k on it. It seems like a good little car although it uses more oil that the previous owner told me but I can live with that as it runs good with good power.

My problem is : it seems to shift hard after you drive the car. I doesnt grind or anything I mean there just seems to be more resistance in the shifter even between gears in neutral. It is actually kinda hard to move the shifter from one gear to another. But when car is cold and has set awhile the shifter moves freely between gears or side to side in neutral.

I chacked the trans fluid and it comes out the plug on the side of case when removed . Does the shifter assemby warm up and expand as you drive or does heat from the exhaust pipe cause the shifter parts to expand causing it to shift hard or is it a transmission problem???? It does this even with the motor off so i am ruling out the clutch. Any suggestions would be appreciated . Thanks Larry

I would try all the shift linkage for abnormal wear and make sure it's all lubed up properly. Make sure parts all work freely.

As far as burning oil, check your PCV. Those like to gum up. Spray it out clean with carburator and choke valve cleaner and make sure air goes through it freely

I lubed up the linkage and all is fine now. Shifts great now MUCH better than before. Thanks
