Well, we had a torrential rain here last night with 60 mph winds. This morning I got in the car and the floor on the passenger's side was soaked. Nowhere else was it wet inside. I did notice on the driver's side that the door panel, where it meets the jamb had water running down. This is the plastic panel on the inside of the car. The car isn't even a week old!!!!
![]() And,yes, I am sure that the doors were shut tight and the windows were up. I checked the weather seals on both doors and they look fine. No evidence that they were creased or folded over. I called the dealer right away and they can't schedule anything until Wednesday. Has anyone else had this problem? |

Re: 2006 Sonata Door Leak
I haven't had that happen but ... when we went and looked at 2006's it appeared every new Sonata on the lot had moisture on the inside of all windows ... I mentioned that to the salesman and he said
" Well , that is common for Sonata's and happens to all of them " .... Yeah , Right ! .. We went else where to shop and eventually bought a 2005 with only 3000K miles on it plus I checked their lot and NONE of their 2006's had any moisture on the inside glass .... Moisture on the inside of windows is usually an indication of bad weather seals or leaks ...... Definatly would keep the Wednsday appointment and make sure they get it done right ... Moisture on the inside will eventully cause mold and mildew plus grow a few strange mushrooms in the carpet which happened to my ford areostar

Re: 2006 Sonata Door Leak
Hi, First time I've ever been to this site.
I bought a 06 Sonata last summer. Haven't driven much, 700 miles to be exact. Have never had it in the rain. One thing I can say is I had this car up to 110 mph and the doors leaked like crazy at this speed. I mentioned it to the dealer and he had no comment. A terrible whistling thru the door seals. |

Re: 2006 Sonata Door Leak
Water coming in through the door could be coming from around the door, OR possibly through the handle assembly. Check the door handle and see if it's loose, just a thought, I know my old Dodge truck is bad about that, but then again, it's an old truck so what do you expect. And as for the doors leaking at 110mph.. lol, I'm really not suprised that the dealer hadn't any comment, I'm suprised he didn't put his hands over his ears. When you go for warranty work there, hope he didn't stick a note on some computer somewhere about your comment, as 110 mph is not exactly 'normal driving or operating conditions.'

Re: 2006 Sonata Door Leak
My DPSM told me that another Hyundai dealer in town here had an '06 Sonata with the water leak problem. Ended up leaking in where the outside mirror meets the door. Might want to look into that cause.

Re: 2006 Sonata Door Leak
Thought I posted a reply to this.
The leak is a published TSB sent to the dealers. Make sure they are aware it is a TSB. |

Said it is fixed now. I'll be sure to keep an eye on it. It sure does not say a lot for quality when the car is less than a week old!!! |
