89 stang;Tranny?Clutch/clutch cable????
Ok the deal... Got a 89 5.0 standard. I can push my clutch pedal half way in then it breaks to the floor... Cant put it into gear while running with pedal all the way in... Goes into gear with car off fine infact thats how I got it home when my clutch pedal snapped to the floor. Had to put it in first and start it in gear good thing i was only three blocks away. What could this be any help would be great... Thanks to all in advance.

Re: 89 stang;Tranny?Clutch/clutch cable????
Also I dont know if this is true or not but I guess the 89 mustang with a stick has tranny fluid I dont know about that but my buddy said that he checked mine and it had none. Now to my understanding is that there is not tranny fluid in any stick.. I dont know but whatever.

Re: 89 stang;Tranny?Clutch/clutch cable????
1.) Your transmission needs some kind of oil. Check your owners manual for what type. Some manual transmissions use gear oil, some use ATF, and some use motor oil. Using the correct lubricant is important. If you use the wrong lubricant, your transmission may not shift.
2.) Check the brake and clutch master fluid levels. Check the clutch hydraulic lines for leaks. Look to see if the fork on the clutch moves when the clutch pedal is depressed. Does the clutch work if you pump the pedal? |

Re: 89 stang;Tranny?Clutch/clutch cable????
I dont have a hydr clutch. I dont know what you mean by the fork on the clutch like on the back of the pedal or ont he clutch its self? Also figured i could give the quadrent a look since it would not cost some money to do that and it was stripped out. Also I think you are right about the tranny grease. Did the take the nut off and stick finger in and didnt feel anything thats pretty bad huh?

Re: 89 stang;Tranny?Clutch/clutch cable????
Yeah, they don't last too long OR shift too well if they don't have lubricant in them...Also, check my reply to your other post about the quadrant...

Re: 89 stang;Tranny?Clutch/clutch cable????
I bet you blew your clutch. I did the same thing and had to drive it the same way you did. I bet you will be using ATF even though you don't have an automatic.

Re: 89 stang;Tranny?Clutch/clutch cable????
maybe when you have to go three blocks you should walk instead of drive. it'll spare your vehicle considerable attrition and its good for your heart to boot.

Re: 89 stang;Tranny?Clutch/clutch cable????
well i dont drive it at all since it messed up. Parked it two miles away from my house and walked home went back three days later to bring it home that was the last time i drove it i walk everywere so i dont have to hurt my baby more. But I looked at the grease to use it was like T0510 or something like that. I dont know what is up with her but ill replace the quadrent like i have started already. Going to put that grease/tranny fluid in to and see where that takes me. I have a new clutch but dont want to put it in thats hard work and i think ill fuck it up and dont want to spend 300 bucks to get it put in.
