i have a set of polished eagle alloy rims, and i was wondering how much you guys think it would cost to have them powdercoated black?
i would want to do them black because ive always liked the blackcar w/ black rims set up plus they would look pretty mean...so if yuo guys could shoot me some prices that'd be awesome..

i remember freak saying his friend's dad (who owns a powdercoating business) would do it for $150 a wheel.

i would say you should be able to find some place that would do it for ~$400 or maybe even less.

Re: powdercoating??

My buddy owns a Powder Coating business... What size are they? I'll ask him how much he charges.

Re: powdercoating??

there 17''s, im thinking either black or a gun metal because i like the look of flat silver rims..the best quote i have gotten was $75 a wheel, and another thing!! these wheels are not stagger'd so what tire combo should i go for to have larger/wider tires in the rear...

umm...just go the widest tire you can all the way around. why would you want to get lose performance on the front just to get a staggered look?

we need to know the width of the wheel to give you a tire width recommendation?

Re: powdercoating??

Well the guy I know has done a full set of 15" wheels for $120... And he does DAMN good work. I'll ask him about the 17" wheels.

check with delerious but i think you will want 235/45/17 all the around

maybe 245/40/17.

i usually find a similar wheel on tirerack.com and find out what the recommended tire size is. they are usually dead on and if anything you can go just a tad wider.

no, you shouldnt stagger tire size. i already somewhat explain this. you only stagger the tire size when you stagger the wheel. why would you want to lose tire? you put the maximum width tire on the wheel you chose. if you have 17x8's all around, why would you want to lose width up front by making the tire smaller in width just to get a staggered fitment. if you want a staggered fitment, you buy staggered wheels.

the stock wheels are staggered because they are 16x7.5's on the front and 16x8.5 in the rear. they fit the widest tire they can fit on both wheel sizes.

so the only way it would be beneficial is if you had staggered aftermarket wheels. for example, i have 18x8.5" in the front and 18x9.5" in the rear. i have 245/40/18 in the front and 275/35/18 in the rear. i have staggered tires because i have staggered wheels. if i had 18x8.5's all the way around i would be running 245/40/18's all the way around. i would not want to go down to 235mm wide in the front just to get a staggered look, i would lose turn in traction that way. hope this explains a little better.

Re: powdercoating??

you might be able to go up to as wide as 255/40/17 if you want to keep it the closest to the stock diameter possible.. you miiiight be able to go to 265, but that's really pushing it and you won't be able to get the right stock diameter of the wheels...
