engine question

If you get a 350 motor out of a truck (1993-1997)is it the same as the lt1. I think you could get a truck 350 a lot cheaper than if its out of a camaro.

Re: engine question

They're different, I think a truck 350 Lt1 is crappier than one out of a Camaro, im not sure on that, but I DO know that they use different heads.

Re: engine question

Truck had iron heads and the LT1 had aluminum heads.

Pretty sure the blocks were the same...but past that, they were pretty different.
Not sure if that is even right though.

Re: engine question

Maybe a caprice engine would be the same and cheaper, or would they have iron heads too?

Re: engine question

He probably meant all else besides that, for that is pretty much the only difference.

Re: engine question

Iron heads hold more heat thus they can't handle as much power due to pre-detination.... aluminum heads dont hold the heat so they can create more power.... and if you get down to it the weight factor... etc.....

Re: engine question

The Caprice and Impala LT1's have different accessory brackets due to a different style power steering unit and the 94 Caprice/Impala LT1's have the newer style vented opti as well which wasn't used til 95 in the Vettes and F-bodys. The exhaust manifolds are different as well and I believe that the B-body uses 22lb injectors instead of the 24lbs used for 94 + Vette and F-body LT1's. So its not just heads that are different.
