Exclamation 89 trooperII front hub replacement

I just bought a used 89 trooperII and belive the hubs are worn out... The front wheels will not engage unless the vechical is lifted with no resistance. I would like to know if anyone has had a simular problems and had to replace the auto locking hubs with superwench manual hubs. The front axel does spin. Anyhelp on the process would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
j

Try Warn Hubs, Part # 17PN61385 Coast $ 125- 150 manual/hubs
You could undo the bolts from your hub , then look and see if the C-clip
has poped off or not,
26mm is the size of the C-clip
that is a common thing.with Auto Hubs.
Good Luck,
Lucas

Exclamation Re: 89 trooperII front axel replacement

Okay so I replaced the auto hubs with manual superwench hubs. It was pretty easy to do but I did notice the the drivers side axle was sunken in about an inch shorter than the passenger side. The 4x4 still doesn't engage and I'm now thinking(after shaking the two axles) that my axle is broken. This seem like it might be a bigger deal to fix, is this very difficult to do and is there any special tricks?

thanks
J
