6L80e?

I heard about the 6-speed auto in the 2006 C6. It's supposed to have paddle shift and whatnot. What do you guys think about a Vette LS2 with 6L80e swap into a '95 Z28?

Re: 6L80e?

The tranny in that corvette is in the back of the car right in front of the differential. Whole lot of modification to get that to work.

Re: 6L80e?

What if you took out rear seats and re-shaped the floor pan? I don't recall there being any frame members there.

Re: 6L80e?

I imagine the bell housing isn't even present since it's rear mounted. No wonder the interior of the Vette's are so small.

actually, that's one of the two main reasons it's like that

1-weight distribution
2-reduction in size of the trans/drive shaft tunnel.

Re: 6L80e?

I'd cream to have that trannie, check out the ratios:

First: 4.02
Second: 2.36
Third: 1.53
Fourth: 1.15
Fifth: 0.85
Sixth: 0.67
Reverse: 3.06

With a 4.10 rear, first gear would shred slicks.

Oh, and also, I think a 6L80e would be death with a Whipple-charged LS7 and rear mount. Oh dear lord. *saves money from now on*

Re: 6L80e?

Any other ideas on how to make this work in an F-body?

Edit: I read somewhere else that someone thought the caddy STS-V version looked like it might fit an Fbod.

Re: 6L80e?

Had a thought, think the bolt patterns on the Vortec truck engines is the same as an LS1? They got the 6L80e as well.
