Power steering pump?

okokok...

When I cut the wheel all the way to one side or the other my maro sounds like Ned Beatty getting slammed by every toothless hillbilly and his brother hankering for a fatty in his "panties." (Sorry, I have no idea where that came from... and's that's not REALLY what it sounds like, but you get the point... it SQUEEELS)

Is this a power steering pump issue, is it dying, can I fix it... what gives???

Re: Power steering pump?

If its not the fluid, then its the pump, and you should be able to do that yourself...
Keep in mind that if you turn the wheel as far as it can go, the pump will make a slight whine in most cars, especially in those that are getting up there in age.
I like the pump design in my '89, the pump itself is submerged in fluid and they rarely go bad...I think GM used this same pump in its trucks and suburbans too.

Re: Power steering pump?

havnt been on here to often lately, i am usually working on my car or chillin on the classifieds forum on thirdgen.org, but to be on topic, sometimes it is usual for the power steering pump to make weird noises like that (like jello getting squeezed out of a sirenge real fast) so you might not have a problem, but hey its always nice to upgrade...
