Newbie....lookin For Mods..........

JUST BOUGHT A NICE BUICK ULTRA...1998....NICE AND CLEAN LOW MILES...LOOKIN FOR SOME MODS.....FOR SPEED.............ANY HELP IS NEEDED.......SOMEONE TOLD BE TO CHANGE THE PULLYS ON THE SUPERCHARGER.....WILL THAT HELP?......HAS ANYONE DONE IT?............WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?.................THANKS

I've read that you can't gain a whole lot of power by changing pulleys unless you also add an intercooler or run racing gasoline, since the more boost you run, the hotter the intake charge gets, and the more the engine has to retard your spark timing to prevent knocking. Don't have any direct experience, though.

Warning--because the intercooler has to fit between the supercharger and the intake manifold, it has to be an air-to-water intercooler since an air-to-air intercooler would be too big. Air to water intercoolers are EXPENSIVE, unfortunately...

You can also get a performance computer chip that will raise shift points and such, but I don't know how much real gain you'd see, and whether that'd be worth the expense.
