Bad Synchro?

I recently just got my car back today after having a new clutchmasters stage 1 clutch put on, new u-joint, and driveshaft mounts. I had all the work done at Sound Performance and they did a pretty good job. A few weeks before I took my car to get a new clutch I had the dealer look at my clutch master and slave cylinder. They said that the master cylinder was in so so shape and that it would probably have to be changed soon. All my gears shift like butter except 2nd is a little notchy/rough. I was wondering if its a synchro or the master. I also think I had a trans flush at my 60k and right now I have 75k(the car doesn't get driven a lot so that was probably two years ago;i need to check with the dealer's records). Also has anyone had good results with a trans flush or additive that fixed a nocthy gear.

Re: Bad Synchro?

I was having grinding issues in 2nd and a little bit in 3rd as well. I changed my tranny fluid to BG Synchro Shift II and it shifts a lot better. From time to time I still get some grinding but not as much as before. I think that'll just extend the usage of whatever's wrong but sooner or later, I'll probably have to get it fixed. And I would think it's the synchros but I'm not completely sure.

Re: Bad Synchro?

It is most likely your synchro, not the master. Master cylinders wouldn't affect just one gear. And I don't know how a dealership could label the master so so. Of course they will say it needs to be changed soon, that is how they make their money. Dealership = Stealerships. Don't trust them.

Anyway, many have had improved shifting with drivetrain oil changes. And if you have some basic tools and a few jackstands you can do it yourself.

Don't know if you are awd or fwd, but you get the basic idea. Redline, royal purple, synchro shift 2, any premium gear oil will help dramatically.

Re: Bad Synchro?

Would I order the blocking rings or the trans synchro rebuild kit (1&2 gears) from supercar-engineering.com/sc2/index.php?cPath=4
