Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Adjustment
My other thread isnt getting much attention, so heres one that if supplied with the correct info could solve most peoples tps woes and it could be stickied so we wouldnt have any more ques on this.
First off when I took off the thermo housing I had to take off the tps sensor and unplug it to get to a bolt. This apparently messed with something b/c now my idle is erratic, my engine bogs, has not torque and is jerky at anything but no or full throttle. Considering that I ran 264 cams on both sides before and didn't have idling issues tells me there is something deffinately wrong. If anyone has an info to contribute it would be good. (sr20det redtop btw) |

Re: Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Adjustment
sounds like you put it back on wrong or messed it up in the process, take it back off and pay very close attention to where the peg thingys are, its made to turn with the throttle body butterfly, line it up so when you open the throttle it will turn the tps, its that easy, if its lined up right and still actin funny you can check it with a multimeter, a haynes or chiltons or i'm sure someone on here can give you the proper readings, if all that checks out you broke somthin else.

Re: Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Adjustment
Yeah I put it back exactly and was going to check it with a multimeter next, but I wasn't sure if you were supposed to do this with the car on and if it is like that I can't do it b/c I tried to start with with the harness unplugged and it died...

Re: Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Adjustment
your car died when you started it with the tps unplugged? weird...i could drive around with my tps unhooked and it drove better than when it was hooked...bought a new tps, and calibrated it (by ear..lol) and now its good to go. BTW...with a multiM...it should run around .05 volts at idle. you test it by pluggin positive to the top wire, and neg to the middle wire
...someone correct me if im wrong
