How competent is it as an off-road vehicle?
When I was younger and poor, I always liked going out with my buddies for some mudding. How competent at mudding is a TB? I wouldn't be doing any rock crawling or much trail driving, just nice muddy fields. I am looking at 03 or 04s with 40-80k miles on them, ranging in the 13-15k range. What else would I want to do to prepare this rig, assuming it is an adequate platform, to have a decent 4x4 as well as daily driver? (that means no 35" super swampers).

Std tires are not agressive enough, suspension is kinda soft for this, not a lot of wheel travel with the big sway bars, not really designed for serious off road with out mods. Locking diff would certainly help in the mud, tires are the biggie here.
