When i was looking for parts for my 4.3l on Summit Racing I noticed that in the engine family option there was 2 choices GM V6 and Chevy Small Block Gen I.........
Was there ever a Small Block 4.3l v8? (that would be a tiny V8) or is this just a fancy name because a 4.3l is often called a Small block with 2 cylinders cut out or a 3/4 block........... if it is a V6 whats the difference?

Re: Engine Family
Yeah there was a 4.3 V8 in the early to mid 90's. I remember seeing it in the cop cars that would come in for service.

Re: Engine Family
Apparently it was used for many more years . My dad bought a 73 chevy that had the 263 C.I. V8 with a 350 harmonic balancer on it . He got ripped off . Lots of parts available for it but its still useless as a powerhouse . Rob

Re: Engine Family
yes there was a 4.3 v8, hell there is a 4.0 v8 right now in some olds. but as stated the 262 v8 was a dog, lots of torque on the low end but no, i mean, no power for get up and go
